Taken this extremely downtrodden PALIYAR Tribal people as our ongoing project in hand for providing essentials, clothing and house renovation .

The PALIYAR Tribal people are nearly 41 kms from Theni in Thalaiyuthu, Muthalamparai at Kadamalaikundu. Around 27 families are there who are extremely below the poverty level and are illiterates. They work in the woods by collecting cotton and even some agricultural works for very low wages. They even collect honey too but looted by merchants for a paltry some. They live in 10sq.ft square dimension of around 5 to 7 members through village development schemes by the government of Tamilnadu. They are yet to get electricity in their homes though they have street lights. The houses in which they live are to be renovated and painted before the monsoon starts. Since they are illiterates they are even ignorant about their quota of civil supply from the Public Distribution System.

Immediate requirements

Their houses has to be renovated, need live stocks, ensure that they get their full quota of civil supplies, a few has to get their smart cards and has to be included in the electrol rolls.

Initially we have decided to provide essentials. Each family will be provided with 10kgs of rice in plastic or gunny bags. Rice in excess quantities too will be distributed based on the strength of the family

Mandatory Requirements

Once after distribution of the essentials as a second initiative mats for sleeping made of Kora grass will be distributed to all the members of the family. From our observation we have noticed that barely they sleep on floors except for the kids who sleep over the rugs. So this is the foremost basic need. Along with the mats cotton pillows too is in our check list to be provided simultaneously.

Once our second initiative gets over we have decided to renovate their houses to an extent that it withstands the monsoon downpour. Most of the houses are without lack of proper maintenance and cracks are found everywhere over the ceiling which leads to the water to ooze out into their belongings.

Clothing for all

Clothing such as Nighties, Sarees, Dhoties and Towels to be provided.

On our repeated and frequent visits to the village we have noticed the people appearing with the same clothes. This felt the need in providing clothes nighties, shirts, dhoties, sarees, frocks, skirts and towels as an immediate measure. Providing raw fabrics alone is of no use as their wages are too low to afford the tailoring costs. So we have decided to provide readymade clothing including lingerie.

Along with our clothes line we have also decided to provide cotton sanitary napkins as most of the people are unaware and has always been leading a discomfort life.

Get Involved

We invite donors all around the corners to support for our noble cause by providing essentials, clothes or even money which will be used for purchasing all the above listed items to be distributed to the people at the earliest. The sooner the better.
